CHRISTMAS CAROLS CANCELLED

The 2020 Redcliffe Christmas Carols scheduled for Sunday, December 13 has been cancelled due to forecast extreme weather.

Event organisers, Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT), made the difficult decision based on numerous weather forecasts predicting heavy rain and flash flooding in the region on the day of the event.

MBRIT CEO Shane Newcombe says the decision to cancel the event was not an easy one to make.

“Patron safety is always our primary concern. With multiple, reliable sources all predicting a high probability of significant rainfall and flooding on Sunday, we have made the difficult decision not to proceed with the Redcliffe Christmas Carols event in 2020,” Mr Newcombe says.

“The event was moved this year from Scarborough to Dolphin Stadium, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and was proving to be very popular, with ticket allocation exhausted within a week of opening. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this decision.”

Families who had planned to attend the Redcliffe Christmas Carols are encouraged to find out what other events are being held in the region in the weeks ahead.
